Artists, Mike Windle, Eddie Summerton and Moira Scott have curated a short film that explores influence, intellectual property, appropriation , insemination and contamination.

Digital VD is an hour film that brings together 60 Scottish artists (and some invited guests) to create a video that seeks to run ‘with’ and not against, the potential of influence and appropriation. New digital technologies have made issues of intellectual property and influence a burgeoning area of legal policy and legislation . Ideas have become instantly accessable whilst we struggle to contain what could be a vital new form of creative flow.

Each artist has agreed to allow a random screening that will mean that their images may end with someone else’s sound track thus causing merry mayhem and a new random discovery each time the film plays.

Philosopher James Williams provides a running narrative in the accompanying catalogue and the project has been generously supported by The Crane Philadelphia, The Carnegie Trust, Dundee University, Edinburgh College of Art, The Hungry Dog Press.
